The Himayat-e-Islam Unani Shifa Khana
Himayat-i-Islam Unani Shifakhana is an educational, charitable medical institution affiliated to the Himayat-i-Islam Tibbia College, which is one of the prestigious institutions of Anjuman Himayat-i-Islam. Besides doing house jobs, hundreds of patients are here every day is benefited.
Unani sanatoriums have a historical significance of their own. In 1931, the Anjuman Himayat-i-Islam started a Unani Shifakhana in the college for the medical education of the students. The combination of suggestion and evaluation is to be done. In the beginning, when Tabbia College Lahore was in the form of night classes and Islamia College used to have its classes in the evening in the rooms adjacent to the railway road and the students used to study Matab from Hakeem Muhammad Zakaria Sahib in the main dispensary of the Anjuman. Hakeem Muhammad Zikr or Sahib was the first in-charge of the Unani Shifakhana. At that time, Dr. Dilawar Ali Shah was the secretary of the medical college and hospital and Justice Sheikh Abdul Qadir was the president of the association.
. In the beginning, there were two hospitals, one Greek and one medical. In the Unani Shifakhana, the students of the medical college were provided with diagnosis and prescription and in the doctor's hospital practical training was given in administering injections and first aid. Prof. Medical College Qazi Mohammad Azimullah Sahib was appointed in charge of the Unani Shifakhana. In 1939, Professor Hakeem Hafiz Jalil Ahmed was appointed in charge of the hospital. In 1963, Hakeem Syed Abdul Fattah Shah Bukhari was appointed Professor of Medicine College in charge of Unani Shifakhana.
In 1965, the college and hospital were moved to a spacious building located at 119 Multan Road, Lahore. After shifting the hospital to a spacious building, the number of patients increased immensely. In 1972, Hakeem Mirza Ahmad Ajmeri Vice Principal Medical College was put in charge of the Unani Shifakhana. After that, Hakeem Atta Muhammad and Hakeem Manzoor Ahmed Daha Sahib continued to perform the duties of the in-charge Unani Shifakhana.
